The basis for many a good dish, this sauce will be a staple in your house. A quick pasta sauce for the kids or the beginnings of a spicy arrabiata, a perfect pizza sauce. You can use it straight away or freeze in batches for months ready and waiting for some fresh herbs to be added.
Makes just over 1.5 cups
Ingredients
- 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 Small Clove Garlic, Grated
- 1 Teaspoon Sea Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Sugar
Method
Add all the ingredients into a small pot and simmer on a low to medium heat for around 30 minutes, stirring every 5-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and simply add whichever fresh herbs you want for the dish such as parsley, basil, chives, coriander or mint otherwise refrigerate for up to 5 days until needed or freeze for up to 3 months.
